The Janine-Sutto Art Centre, previously known as the Frontenac Art Centre, is a major cultural venue in the Ville-Marie borough and is part of Montreal’s Accès culture network. Inaugurated in 1989, the performance hall required interventions to enhance accessibility and upgrade its specialized facilities and equipment. This project aims to revitalize the venue’s image and improve the visitor experience, highlighting its substantial potential as a key cultural hub.

Key enhancements included improvements to acoustic quality, spatial configuration, and the layout of technical equipment in the performance hall. The project also involved upgrades to mechanical and electrical systems and a review of fire safety standards. With an average of 150 cultural events hosted annually and resident artists in attendance, the Janine-Sutto Art Centre plays a vital role in promoting the performing arts in Montreal and Quebec.

The project also replaced approximately 314 seats and renovated the flooring of both the hall and stage, offering a modern and intimate experience for audiences. Additionally, the reception area, lighting, display systems, and signage were thoughtfully redesigned to enrich the aesthetics of the transit space leading to the performance hall.
