Mackay Appartments
Montréal, QC
Located in downtown Montreal, adjacent to Concordia University’s campus, the Mackay Apartments project is rooted in a dense urban context characterized by the coexistence of historic grey-stone buildings and contemporary precast concrete developments. The design responds to this layered environment with a design that is both contextual and contemporary.
The façade is composed of precast concrete panels in subtly varied tones, accented by metal inserts that enrich its material expression. Carefully orchestrated vertical articulation echoes the rhythm of neighbouring buildings, creating a dynamic composition where light and shadow become integral elements of the architectural experience.
Developed in close collaboration with structural engineers, the building is supported by an optimized concrete structure. This approach allows for the efficient integration of the façade system while meeting the functional requirements of the residential units and underground parking. The result is a balanced design that combines construction efficiency, long-term performance, and durability.
