Challenging the traditional separation between parks and urban spaces, this project dreams of a city that thrives within its natural vegetation. Envisioning the Saint-Laurent library as an integral part of Marcel-Laurin Park, nestled among the trees, the building's volume is designed to ensure the conservation of 86% of the existing forest.

This initiative responds to the Montrealers' growing desire to enhance the greenery of their streets, alleys, yards, and rooftops, promoting a harmonious blend of sustainable development, quality of life, and expanded urban vegetation. It offers the opportunity to create a linear garden along Boulevard Thimens, on the underlying theme of green energy. The space will feature benches, bike racks, public art, shaded areas, and engaging activities to encourage and facilitate active transportation.

A structure of perforated wooden panels will be suspended horizontally from the ceiling and vertically behind the glass, mimicking the forest cover by diffracting natural light and reducing ambient noise. This acoustic and visual filter fosters a pleasant and refreshing atmosphere conducive to reading and relaxation.
