Chevalier Morales is proud to announce its recent contribution to an article in Voir Vert magazine, a leading authority on sustainable architecture in Quebec. The article highlights our commitment to eco-friendly architectural practices through an interview with Ève Beaumont-Cousineau, Associate Architect at Chevalier Morales, and Thibaut Lefort, Principal Engineer at Latéral. Focusing on the new Mont-Laurier library, the publication emphasizes the innovative design of its entirely dismountable structure, which allows for a sustainable redefinition of the building's use.

Developed as a full-scale prototype, the groundbreaking reciprocal frame concept represents a fully reproducible and factory-prefabricated system. This approach not only simplifies future reconstruction but also aligns with the essential movement to reduce greenhouse gas emissions in the construction industry by repurposing existing materials.

The project has garnered significant support from the Quebec Ministry of Natural Resources and Forests, Wildlife, and Parks, receiving a $1 million grant from the Wood Construction Innovation Program. This grant was awarded for the innovative reciprocal wood structure, developed in collaboration with the structural engineers at Latéral. This achievement marks a first for new institutional buildings in Quebec and Canada!

We are honored by this recognition and to share with Voir Vert the vision of a more sustainable future.
